Take-Home & In-Office Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening treatments use powerful whitening agents that react violently when they come into contact with the organic stains on your tooth enamel. These compounds bleach away stains and restore the natural, white color of your enamel. At Rio Vista Family Dentistry & Orthodontics, we offer both take-home and in-office teeth whitening to meet the needs of every patient. Whether you prefer fast treatment or a more subtle change in the shade of your teeth, we can help! Schedule an appointment today.

Reshape and Restore Your Teeth

Bonding, Shaping & Contouring

Dental bonding is a non-invasive way to restore the color and shape of your teeth. Dr. Bonifacio or Dr. Reyes will apply a tooth-colored resin directly to your tooth, then sculpt it to improve tooth shape, fill in chips, and enhance tooth color. Next, the resin will be hardened with UV light, then trimmed to ensure that it looks and feels just like a natural tooth. The process is completely non-invasive, and takes only 30-60 minutes per tooth, in most cases.

Versatile, Long-Lasting Smile Restoration

Porcelain Veneers

For those who have numerous cosmetic issues affecting their front teeth (such as gaps, serious stains that cannot be whitened, or multiple small or misshapen teeth), veneers are an efficient, affordable option.

Veneers are usually made of porcelain, and they are thin dental prostheses designed to cover up the front chewing surfaces of your teeth. By doing so, veneers can improve almost any cosmetic imperfection and give you a beautiful, natural-looking smile. They are stain-resistant, durable, and can easily last 10-15 years or longer with proper care.

How Long Do The

Effects of Teeth Whitening Last?

This can vary greatly depending on how well you care for your teeth. Most patients see the best results for about 1-2 years after their teeth whitening treatment, but whitening can last longer than this. In addition, you can get routine whitening touch-ups at Rio Vista Family Dentistry to keep your smile bright indefinitely.

If you want to prolong the effects of teeth whitening, the most important thing is to keep brushing and flossing regularly, and to get teeth cleanings and oral exams at our office every six months to eliminate surface stains. You can also use whitening toothpaste and mouthwash to help prevent stain buildup.

It may also be a good idea to cut back a bit on staining beverages like coffee, tea, and wine. You also should cease smoking or the use of oral tobacco, if applicable. Tobacco use will quickly stain your teeth again, and also raises the risk of oral cancer, gum disease, and cavities.

Can you Remove

Dental Bonding

Yes. Dental bonding requires no removal of any of your tooth enamel. To prepare your teeth, they are simply brushed with a very mild acid that roughens them up, and allows the dental bonding material to bond tightly to your enamel.

This means that, if necessary, your dental bonding can be removed. Using a special type of buffing tool with a sandpaper-like attachment, your dentist at Rio Vista Family Dentistry can gently buff away and remove the resin to reverse the effects of bonding.

However, this needs to be done by an experienced dentist to avoid any removal of your natural enamel. This is why removing dental bonding is relatively rare. In most cases, patients only have their bonding removed if the bonding is worn out and needs replacement, or if they decide to get veneers to replace a set of worn-down bonded teeth.
